Gold in Green Forests

Every single day, metre upon metre of the world’s largest onshore carbon sink – the rainforest – is destroyed. At the same time, increased global food production produces increased greenhouse gas emissions from an agricultural sector that has to continually grow to feed the nine billion people who will inhabit the earth in 2050.

Biomass represents both the challenge and the solution to the climate problem. We have to let the rainforest remain intact and strengthen the rights of the local population that guards it. We have to use agricultural waste to create new energy and we also have to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases currently being created on such a large scale by the world’s food producers.
